Feb 13 - Tuesday

 Today we read and analyzed "The Negro Speaks of Rivers", we also had a set of questions we had to answer. I learned more about the importance of analyzing poems to understand what I read. I also learned that there is a deeper history to someone than meets the eye. It will be nice to investigate my background and see where our family came from. I like that we have to analyze the poem no matter how small it is or how easy the words may be, they always have a deeper meaning. I’m not feeling good at all, my surgery wound has bothered me all morning and I don’t expect it to get better. I also have to study for my chemistry quiz tomorrow, which I’m kind of prepared for.

 Today we made a college profile. We had to choose a college / university and figure out the tuition, where it was, number of undergraduate etc. I choose a career similar to what I want to do as my future career, so it very educational. This assignment gave me ideas for what schools I should think about applying to, one more year for me to decide. I'm kind of tired because of the weekend I had, but I feel fine.

  I was born in Georgia, and I have lived here all my life. My family goes to Mexico at least once a year, so there isn't a possibility for me to ever forget where we really come from. We always try to incorporate my parents' traditions to the new ones we've learnt in the US. That includes learning Spanish. I'm grateful my parents taught us Spanish as our first language because if not we wouldn't have been able to speak so frequently to our family in Mexico. I chose the pictures of dancing and music because we still see and hear it especially when we go to parties. The only thing I have to better myself in are the dishes, all the food we eat is delicious, but I can’t make it. I don’t want to be the one to discontinue everything we know from our home country, so I must learn.
