Today we started our work late because the teacher came in late. We also are not reading Fences aloud anymore because apparently its inappropriate, so we have to read it on our own from now on. We got a new sheet we have to complete; it was questions on scenes 1-3. We read scene one already so that was easy, all we had to do was read scene 2, the teacher said not to do scene three. It wasn't hard, but I still didn't finish I still needed one or two questions.

Today we started reading Fences out loud, the teacher chose five people to play the different characters in scene one. While they read, the rest of the class got a sheet of paper and had to describe each character, find a few quotes, key events, two themes, and finally summarize. The teacher will choose different people to read until we finish the book, so I have to prepare myself for that.

Today was our first day back from our break and we started discussing a new book/play called Fences. We analyzed the setting and the different scenes, including learning a little on the character. Especially the main character Troy, tomorrow we will start reading it aloud. So far, we know it takes place during or a little later than the Civil Rights movement.

Today we had to finish the work sheet 'On the Way to School Documentary questions.'  There was a lot of realization on my part because I didn't know how difficult it was getting to school and how much school meant to the kids of the documentary. Plus, all the kids in the world that have to go through the same difficult/ dangerous journey. I am grateful for having a free education and easy access to the transportation it provides. I really should take advantage of the opportunities I'm given, so maybe one day I can help the ones who really need it.

Today we didn't get the opportunity to present our 'Rockpile' illustrations because of time. We did take an assessment on "The Rockpile" that we were going to take Friday, but we took it today. Since we finished quickly and today was a block day, we started something new. Our assignment is about how 4 different people from different countries get school and the difficult journey they must make to get an education. There are four pages total, but we only completed one and a half pages today, so we're going to finish it tomorrow.

Today we did an activity based on the short story 'The Rockpile.' For our activity we had to make an illustration on our childhood home. Other than drawing we had to answer some questions like; Rules our parents gave us when we were younger, a bad experience and "The Rockpile" of our neighborhood. We were told we had to present our drawings Thursday and that we were not allowed to turn them in after Thursday morning. The assignment wasn't hard, so maybe the rest of the week will be easy too because we don't go to school next week .

Today the teacher wasn't here, so we were left with a worksheet we had to complete by the end of class. The questions were about the passage "The Rockpile" I didn't read it because I was absent the days the class started something new. I did find the passage online, but it was kind of long, so I didn't finish the questions. I am taking the paper home and completing it so I can at least a partial grade for completing it.

Today we had independent day, so we didn't physically go to school. This class didn't have work that needed to be complete, but some of my classes did so I have to complete that.

Today we presented our 40-line poems, and everyone has the potential to post it so it can be published. It can change you and what career you wanted to do in the future. I had to finish my test today because the Wi-Fi kept acting up when I was taking my test on Friday. When we come back Thursday, we are going to start something new on short stories. (We don't have school tomorrow its virtual and Wednesday is a block day.)

Today we are taking a test on the poem we've been learning about all week called "Constantly Risking Absurdity." The test wasn't hard if you paid attention which I did. Especially when we analyzed it, that helped a lot in the test. I had a lot of issues with the internet, so my answers took forever to save. After a while nothing on my test showed up, so I had to finish my paper. I had to transfer my answers to the computer, but I'll have to do that Monday.

Today we are writing our own 40-line poem about whatever we want, but there is a "guideline" we have to follow. I'm writing mine about nature because I like it and because I couldn't think of anything else. The poem was just supposed to flow out of me if it really mattered to me and it did (kind of) I wanted to change it, but I didn't know to what. I also didn't finish it during class, so I have to turn it in by then end of the day.
